Optics Lab Intern

Job description

We are looking for a physics or engineering student to work on-site in our optics lab during the summer 2025 (May until August). You will be involved in a project that will improve the characterization and calibration of our 3D cameras.

Want to gain experience in a dynamic start-up environment and contribute to the development of a new sensor technology? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you!


Who are we and what do we do?

We have a passion for developing solutions at the intersection of 2D imaging and depth. AIRY3D has developed DepthIQ™, a 3D computer vision platform that consists of a Transmissive Diffraction Mask and computational imaging software that can give any CMOS image sensor the ability to provide depth information. What will you do?

  • Design and construct testing systems and devices that will streamline our calibration process

  • Benchmark testing protocols

  • Be an integral part of our optical testing and quality assurance programs

  • Work closely with both our product and R&D teams to strengthen our 3D imaging technology

Job requirements

What do you need to have?

  • Pursuing DEC or Undergraduate degree in physics or engineering

  • Theoretical knowledge of fundamental optical principles

  • Hands on experience using optical components and instruments

  • General mechanical and electronic design and assembly skills

  • Ability to program in Python

  • Ability to work on-site in our vibrant Montreal office (Mile End location)


Bonus points

  • Interest in photography

  • Familiarity with various image formats and readouts

  • Cool side projects!
